A man buying sawdust for agricultural use died after being buried in sawdust at Conner Industries, a lumberyard in Valley Center, KS. According to the Valley Center police, sawdust falling from a hopper trapped the man. The company stored sawdust in the hopper for purchase, and the man was filling his trailer from the hopper. According to authorities, he was trying to knock some sawdust loose with a pitchfork, triggering the collapse. Employees dug through the sawdust that collapsed on him, but it was too late. Authorities have ruled the death an accident.
