A fire at Hill’s Pet Nutrition in Emporia, KS, caused damage to a dryer and the dog food being produced. According to authorities, fire fighters were dispatched to the plant around 9:15 pm on Friday, October 9. The fire and smoke weren’t visible on arrival but were contained to a food dryer. The re was quickly under control and there were no injuries reported.Workers at the pet food company had been preparing the dryer for cleanout and there was dog food in the dryer when the re started. The total damage estimate and loss of product wasn’t shared, and the cause of the re is still under investigation as of press time.
