Element, a global material and product certification company, has upgraded its laboratory based in Huntington Beach, CA, with a dedicated characterization facility for additive manufacturing (AM) powders. The new testing equipment will allow for various analyses, including chemical composition, powder sieve, particle size distribution, flowrate, apparent density, tap density, and gas pycnometry, which is a method that measures irregularly shaped solid object volume. Powder testing ensures that a powder is authentic, pure, and uniform. Once a part has been printed, the facility can also perform mechanical, dynamic, chemical, and metallurgical tests on the prototypes. To learn more, click here.
