Beumer, Somerset, NJ, a conveying and loading system designer and manufacturer, has been selected to provide design and build services for a new recycled ash pipe conveying system as the A.B. Brown Generating Station located near Mount Vernon, IN. Spearheaded by Vectren, a CenterPoint Energy Company, the project should continue through 2020.
The project consists of a one-mile-long pipe conveyor to transport material from the power station’s ash pond to its barge loading facility on the Ohio River. In addition to supplying the pipe conveyor, Beumer will also design and supply a reclaim hopper and belt feeder to receive wet ash at the pond site and a transfer conveyor to feed the new pipe conveyor. Beumer will also design, fabricate, and supply upgrade modifications to the existing barge loading facility to convert it from a dry loading system to one that will load the wet, excavated ponded material. The supplier’s pipe conveyor system has proven to be an environmentally safe solution for coal ash transportation by eliminating material spills and fugitive dust.
