The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) has been awarded federal funding from the US Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) to increase access to markets abroad for US animal food products. The $200,000 funding will be used through the Market Access Program (MAP) and grants AFIA “cooperator” status for the first time, which allows the trade association the ability to independently manage the US government funds starting in January 2021.

The goal of the MAP funds is to enhance the US animal food industry’s $12.6 billion export market through continued international stakeholder engagement and education, participation in global standard-setting initiatives, and efforts that ensure US trade agreements are met.

AFIA, Arlington, VA, is devoted to representing the business, legislative, and regulatory interests of the US animal food industry and its suppliers.
