At Witco's diatomaceous earth processing operation, an alumina lining gets rid of the cyclone-patching chore -- permanently.

Located in Quincy, Wash., Witco mines diatomaceous earth, processes it, screens it to meet customers’ specifications, and treats it in a kiln to remove organic contaminants. The food-grade product that results is used for a variety of filtration applications that require the removal of particulates. Witco’s customers include processors of apple juice, corn syrup, beer, and wine.
