Selecting a weight measurement system for your stored bulk material

After you inventory your bulk material, have you ever been surprised to find more or -- worse -- less material in your silo than your last inventory indicated? If you inventory your material by level and then convert to weight, then you should seriously reconsider the type of measurement system you use. To help you choose a measurement system that will meet your processing needs, this article discusses level measurement and direct weight measurement systems for determining a material's weight and how each can be applied.

At month's end you inventory your bulk material using a level measurement system. After you give the results to the accounting department, the accountant calls you and asks, "Where did you get the extra material? The receiving tickets and production reports don't match the inventory results." Or worse, the accountant asks, "Where did the material go?"
