Cleaning contaminants from your pneumatic conveying air with an in-line filter

In this article, an environmental biology researcher reports results from studying how an in-line, high-pressure filter removes contaminants in dilute-phase pressure pneumatic conveying systems equipped with a positive-displacement blower. The data are from tests of unloading systems but can be applied to in-plant systems.

If you pneumatically convey a pharmaceutical, food, plastic, or other highly pure product, tiny particles carried by the conveying air can create big contamination problems. Extremely fine airborne pollutants can elude your air intake filter. Materials from your air intake filter's media and wear particles or lubricating oil from your blower can enter the conveying air. All of these can be introduced into your product, contaminating it and resulting in product loss, conveying system and silo cleanup costs, and downtime.
