Glossary of mechanical conveyor terms
Mechanical conveyors are horizontal, inclined, or vertical devices used to move or transport dry bulk materials. As such, they are often called the workhorses of material handling systems. The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association [CEMA] has defined more than 80 types of conveyors used in the process industries.
This glossary provides definitions for some of the common types of conveyors and related components used in powder and bulk solids processing. It also includes some technical and engineering terms used in the conveyor industry.
