New processing methods yield healthy results for a vitamin tablet producer
New mixing, milling, and drying methods eliminate mixing and milling steps, dry a mixture six times faster, reduce labor by half, and result in more uniform vitamin tablets.
The ICI Pharmaceuticals Group develops and produces prescription pharmaceuticals and a line of vitamin products. ICI vitamin tablets are made one batch at a time using a two-stage process: The first stage produces a milled, dried partial mixture, and the second stage leads to a final mixture. During the first stage, some of the tablet ingredients are wet-mixed to form the partial mixture, which is milled and dried. During the second stage, the partial mixture is blended with other ingredients, forming a final mixture that is then fed into dies to form the tablets.
