Dust Doctor: Ductwork selection
Columnist John Constance tells what to consider when you're selecting ductwork for your dust collection system
Dust control exhaust system ductwork is sized to maintain minimum dust transport velocities to minimize dust settlement within the ductwork. Typically, these velocities average 4,000 fpm. But size isn't the only factor you must consider when specifying ductwork for your system. Others include duct strength, construction materials, duct connections, and accessories such as access doors and balancing dampers.
