Vibrating screens for aggregate production
The rectangular vibrating screen is by far the most commonly used type of screening equipment, due to its high capacity and efficiency relative to both its size and cost. Four of the more popular rectangular vibrating screens -- two-bearing inclined, four-bearing inclined, horizontal, and high speed -- are the subjects of this article. A description is given of each type, followed by guidelines for successful screen installation. The article also reviews screen design options that are available in today's marketplace and discusses trends for the future.
Screening predates recorded history and probably originated in early efforts to separate minerals from the soil. The primary functions of screens are to separate granular products into various sizes and to separate solids from liquids. Granular products are presented to screen openings of various sizes, with the hope that all material smaller than the opening will fall through.
