Using cartridge filters for fluid-bed processes
Most of us are aware of the importance of cartridge filters for dust control in bulk solids handling and processing operations. But cartridge filters have other applications, too. This article explains how cartridge filters can efficiently capture and contain particles in your fluid bed process. The first sections discuss some basics of fluid bed processing and bag filters; later sections describe cartridge filters and their advantages over mom traditional bag filters in fluid bed processes.
A fluid bed process such as drying, agglomeration, or coating uses fluidized air to lift and suspend particles. The process air must be filtered to retain the particles before the air is exhausted. Traditionally, specially designed bag filters have filtered fluid bed process air. Now cartridge filters can be installed in new fluid bed process equipment or can be retrofit to fluid bed equipment originally fitted with bag filters.
