To produce a higher grade of cement, ready-mix plants often mix fly ash in their product. Purchased from power companies and other vendors, the fly ash is used as a catalyst and filler in the ready-mix. But the same characteristics that make fly ash beneficial for the ready-mix make the ash difficult to handle.
