Using ultrasonic devices to improve sieving
Sticky powders and powders with many same-size particles tend to lodge in the apertures of the mesh in vibratory screeners. The phenomenon, known as blinding or blocking, reduces the capacity of the screening operation. This article describes how ultrasonic devices prevent blinding and how they enable screeners to handle finer powders and higher throughputs.
In most powder processing operations, sieves, screeners, and other size separators rank low in the order of equipment costs. But the importance of sieving to the manufacture of fine powders cannot be overstated. Thus, any technique that improves sieving also contributes to the success of the entire power processing operation. Ultrasonics is one such technique. It applies a secondary vibration to the mesh of vibratory screeners to prevent particles from blocking, or blinding, the openings in the mesh.
