Understanding and applying spray dryers in chemical processing

If you need to turn a chemical liquid feed into a dry powder, but are concerned about the powder's sensitivity to heat, a spray dryer may be the answer. A spray dryer quickly converts a pumpable liquid feed, such as a solution, slurry, or paste, into a dry powder by exposing it to hot air or other gas. The dryer is especially suited to drying heat-sensitive fine chemicals, because it quickly dries liquids while handling the resulting powder at relatively low temperatures.
