Nanotechnology and the dry bulk solids industries
Nanotechnology is making greater and greater inroads into the dry bulk solids industries. Are we ready to handle it?
Agovernment survey reported that by the end of 2003 more than one-fourth of manufacturers were making products that involved nanotechnology. Many more companies in the survey expected to be doing this by the end of 2004. In fact, CMP Cientifica, a nanotechnology business-information company, estimates that the nanotechnology market will reach $537 billion this year, "driven by the material, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, and catalyst markets." 1 And the National Science Foundation (NSF) predicts that the worldwide nanotechnology market will surpass $1 trillion by 2015.1
