When the dust accumulations in the workplace are combustible, there are several precautions to be taken to prevent a dust explosion during cleaning operations.This webinar will describe how to assess the magnitude of the dust layer hazard, list the hazards from cleaning operations, explain the considerations for hiring a contractor for major cleanup, and review the design principles for successful vacuum cleaning systems, the preferred method in NFPA standards. These topics will be addressed by the presenter, Gary Q. Johnson, an experienced dust control and combustible dust consultant.

Johnson, P.E., Workplace Exposure Solutions, LLC Before becoming a consultant for Workplace Exposure Solutions, Gary spent 27 years at Procter & Gamble, where worked in health, safety, and environment. His focus areas were dust control system design and maintenance, process safety around flammable vapors and combustible dusts, and environmental emissions and discharges. As a consultant over the last 6 years, he has helped clients solve dust control and combustible dust issues in consumer products, pharmaceuticals, plastics compounding and sheet formation, paint and coatings, fine chemicals, and metal forming industries.
