Emerging technology: Automated service improves safety of silo, bin, and bunker cleanout
Periodic cleanout of unwanted material buildup in storage structures typically involves considerable downtime, expense, and risk to personnel. A newly developed technology by Mole Master Services eliminates many of these problems.
Every year numerous fatalities occur when workers enter silos, bins, and bunkers to remove unwanted material buildup. In addition to safety risks, conventional cleanout methods often result in damage to the silos, bins, bunkers, and surrounding environment, as well as loss of valuable, reclaimable material. For example, use of explosive agents can damage the bulk storage facility. High-pressure water blasting often causes the loss of saleable material and damage to surrounding areas. Given the number of variables involved -- such as the different types of stagnant material, the level of moisture content, the type and density of formations, and the age of the silo -- there is an inherently unpredictable risk in every cleanout assignment.
