Boost production! Cut costs! Can't shut it down! Plant management is under constant pressure to keep the production line running and minimize costs to stay competitive. Because of this, some people consider preventive maintenance old-fashioned, time-consuming, and costly. Their mantra is, "If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it." In many plants, even the spare parts budget is cut, so when something breaks down on the line, you have to pull a replacement out of the air.
