Pneumatic Conveying Troubleshooting:
What Your Pressure Gauge Can Tell You – and More

Date:
Tuesday, January 7, 2014

Time:  12:00 PM (Noon) – 2:00 PM EST

Presented by:  Jack Hilbert and Paul Solt

Moderated by:  Christine Bernier Lienke, Associate Editor of Powder and Bulk Engineering

Webinar Cost:  $99.00 USD

Registration fee is non-refundable after the live event.

Webinar Details:  This annual webinar focuses on Troubleshooting Pneumatic Conveying Systems. In the past, we’ve covered all the various types and modes of pneumatic conveying systems and equipment.

The approach for this webinar will be unique and different from our previous webinars in that we will be looking at the conveying system as though we were a pressure gauge. Through those “eyes” we will explain the potential reasons and corrective actions for the various conditions we "see" taking place in the conveying system.

This webinar will look at primarily dilute-phase pneumatic conveying systems that use a rotary airlock as the line charger and a positive-displacement blower as the gas supply, as that’s the most common system type installed in most plants. As appropriate, other line chargers, such as pressure tanks and screw pumps, will also be addressed. Methods of making a preliminary assessment of what may be wrong with a system will also be discussed as well as detailed solutions to specific hardware problems.

While not absolutely necessary, it’s recommended that the previous webinar sessions dealing with dilute-phase pneumatic conveying and troubleshooting be reviewed for exposure to the terminology and expressions that will be used.

Presenter Information:  Jack D. Hilbert, PE, is principal consultant with Pneumatic Conveying Consultants in Schnecksville, Pa., and has more than 30 years of experience in the application, design, engineering, installation, and operation of pneumatic conveying systems. He also has written numerous papers and given many presentations at technical conferences.

Paul E. Solt is a consultant at Pneumatic Conveying Consultants. Paul has been working in the field of pneumatic conveying for more than 50 years and has been writing the PBE column, "Pneumatic Points to Ponder...," for more than 20 years. He presents seminars on pneumatic conveying for the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the Center for Professional Advancement in New Jersey, and other organizations. He also holds several patents for pneumatic conveying devices.

PDH Information:  If you are working on a certification or licensing program that allows Professional Development Hours, CSC Publishing Inc. will (upon request) provide a Certificate of Participation for our educational webinars put on by Powder and Bulk Engineering. One certificate per registered participate will be sent if the webinar is viewed. You should check with your employer or local agency to confirm their specific PDH requirements. In many cases, our educational webinars will contribute toward these hours.
