Reliable Baghouse Operation

Tuesday, December 13, 2011

Time:  12:00 PM (Noon) – 2:00 PM EST

Presented by:  Gary Johnson

Moderated by:  Robert Harkin, Associate Editor of Powder and Bulk Engineering

Webinar Cost:  $99.00 USD

Registration fee is non-refundable after the live event.

Webinar Details: A key element of sustained dust collection system performance is designing and operating the baghouse correctly. Achieving reliable baghouse operation is based on several factors, including sizing the baghouse; selecting appropriate filter media and prepping and installing it correctly; controlling baghouse differential pressure; and designing the dust removal system so that dust is continually removed from the baghouse hopper. The presenter will share his experience on these and other issues and will update you on the latest innovations available to address baghouse reliability.

Presenter Information:  Before becoming a consultant for Workplace Exposure Solutions, Gary worked in health, safety, and environment at Procter & Gamble for 27 years. His focus areas were dust control and central vacuum cleaning system design and maintenance, process safety around flammable vapors and combustible dusts, and environmental emissions and discharges. As a consultant over the last 9+ years, he has helped clients in consumer products, pharmaceuticals, plastics, paint and coatings, foods, flavorings, wood processing, specialty chemical, and metal forming industries.

He is active in technical training for clients and at several national conferences as well as the OSHA Training Institute. He has written numerous articles on dust collection system design and maintenance and meeting combustible dust requirements. His past technical committee memberships include the Industrial Ventilation Committee of the American Conference of Government Industrial Hygienists, publishers of manuals on industrial ventilation system design and maintenance, and the team that updated the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering Baseline Guide for Oral Solid Dose Forms (EH&S chapter co-leader.) He recently joined the just formed ANSI/Z9.12 Subcommittee that will write a new national standard on “Combustible Dust Collection Systems.”
