Acrylonitrile producer improves processing with two-stage cyclone systems
When expensive catalyst escaped through cyclone leaks, a specialty chemical producer decided to upgrade the cyclones.
DuPont's Beaumont Works division, Beaumont, Tex., produces petrochemicals, elastomers, and specialty chemicals. The division's specialty chemical unit makes organic compounds, including acrylonitrile, a monomer for use in ABS plastics. The compound produces various properties in each plastic depending on the other chemicals combined with it.
