Pneumatic conveying system cures hide-processor's problems
Excel's hide-processing operation saves money, time, and space by replacing bagged salt with a pneumatic bulk salt system.
Although meat is the primary product of the Excel meat packing plant in Dodge City, Kans., the facility also processes a number of by-products including hides used to manufacture leather goods. The company uses 18 large mixers to cure hides in a dry salt process, with each mixer using roughly 7,000 pounds of salt per day.
