Salt packaging plant increases plant safety and capacity with handling and packaging improvements

When a salt packaging plant wanted to increase its effective storage capacity and speed up packaging, a new conveyor, bag packer, and palletizer reduced labor and increased safety.

Akzo Nobel Salt operates a packaging plant in Minneapolis. Hopper-bottom railcars deliver the plant salt, which is stockpiled in an approximately 80-by-80-foot warehouse. The plant then packages the salt in 40-, 5O-, and 80-pound bags before palletization and shipment to customers.
