Air-ionization system eliminates static charges, nuisance shocks
A company installs an airionization system in its FIBC-loading operation to remove static charges from the bags' surfaces and eliminate nuisance shocks to its operators.
Eastman Chemical Company, Kingsport, Tenn., manufactures various intermediate products, including chemicals, synthetic fibers, and plastics, that other companies turn into consumer products. Some of the intermediate products are loaded into flexible intermediate bulk containers [FIBCs] and shipped to the various companies for processing. During loading, static charges built on the FIBCs' surfaces, causing operators to receive nuisance shocks when they touched the bags. The company wanted to find a way to eliminate these.
