When original loss-in-weight feeding equipment for animal feed powders gave less-than-desired accuracy, an animal feed manufacturer switched to feeders that improve accuracy by overcoming material flow problems.

The Milk-Mix plant in Varkaus, Finland, makes animal feed from milk left over from dairies. This milk is dried and mixed with other milk powders, minerals, and additional ingredients to make a nutritious powder. Having the correct proportion of each ingredient in the final product is critical to animal growth rate and product cost.
