New equipment easily bears cement plant’s heavy production loads
A plant improves its cement packaging operation by installing an automated bagger, palletizer, and stretch-hood machine.
Titan America LLC, headquartered in Norfolk, Va., operates the Pennsuco plant in Medley, Fla., just north of Miami. The Pennsuco plant produces a range of cement and masonry products for residential and commercial construction projects. In 2004, the company completed a $200 million modernization project that increased the plant’s cement production capacity to more than 2.4 million tons per year, making it the largest cement production plant in Florida. One year later, the company installed a new automated bagger, palletizer, and stretch-hood machine in the plant’s packhouse to improve the packaging operation.
