Chemical plant colorfully cuts test time
A probe colorimeter used to detect and measure color changes saves GAF Chemicals time, labor, and money, and also improves the repeatability of calcium content tests for the company's denture adhesive polymers.
The GAF Chemicals plant in Calvert City, Ky., formulates several sodium-calcium polymers used in denture adhesive applications. The formulations have an aggregate content of sodium and calcium, both in salt form, which varies from 1 to 50 percent. To meet customer content specifications, GAF tests the polymers for sodium and calcium content.
