Plastics concentrates producer improves quality, productivity with computer-controlled continuous processing

Switching from batch to continuous processing and adding computer control improves plastics concentrates production.

Ampacet Corporation produces more than 1,200 color and additive concentrates for the plastics industry. The concentrates, in pellet form, are tailored mixtures of as many as 10 ingredients, including such raw materials as virgin polymers, pigments, and additives. The pellets are used in feedstock and, when blended with virgin olefin resin, provide a spectrum of colors. The pellets can also enhance the functional properties of end-use plastics products, including carpet backings, ropes, containers, garbage bags, film for consumer packages, and coatings for photographic paper.
