Airlocks provide powerful solution for grain company's generating facility
When lock hoppers with adjustable shoe-type rotary feeders required frequent maintenance, a grain company's power-generating facility switched to rotary airlocks.
Power Systems Operations, Danville, Ill., supplies steam for plant processes and electric generation at Lauhoff Grain, located next door. In 1988, the power-generating facility installed a circulating fluidized bed combustor that burns coal at 226,000 lb/h to supply 965°F steam at 1,550 psig.
