Monitor levels salt processor's problems
Cargill's Solar Salt plant finds a bin level indicator that gives accurate readings and stands up to corrosion.
The salt produced at Cargill Inc.'s Solar Salt plant in Freedom, Okla., is primarily used for water softener recharging and secondarily as an animal feed supplement. As part of the production process, Cargill feeds the salt from a surge bin into a fluid bed dryer. Owing to its high moisture content, the salt enters and discharges from the bin unevenly, making bin level monitoring difficult. This can cause problems as an overabundance or lack of salt in the bin adversely affects the dryer's operation.
