Packaging line automation pays off with production rewards
A barite producer automates its bagging and palletizing line to improve efficiencies and reduce hazards to operators.
Global demand for energy continues to rise, and with it, the need for pulverized barite, a mineral used in drilling for oil and natural gas. The snag comes when manually filling bags with fine, 200-mesh barite exposes workers to dust and other health hazards such as ergonomic problems. To address these issues, one manufacturer integrated highly efficient and low-maintenance robots into its existing production process to automatically apply empty bags onto the fill spouts of three impeller packers and automatically palletize the filled bags.
