Bag closure keeps material in, air out
When the Sunbright operations of Cyprus Foote needed a bag closure that would prevent its material from becoming hard set, sifting out, or forming a different compound, a bag-closing system that sews and then tapes each bag's top shut proved effective.
The Sunbright operations of Cyprus Foote, located in southwest Virginia, is a leading producer of lithium hydroxide monohydrate, which is used as an additive in the manufacture of lithium-based greases. Half of Sunbright's output is shipped in airtight fiber drums, while the other half is shipped in multiwall paper bags. Each bag, which is made of two-ply kraft paper with a laminated center ply of two-mil poly material, holds 50 pounds and measures 30 by 15 inches flat.
