Inerting control system prevents explosions in photoresist processing line
An inerting control system provides safe processing after an internal safety review reveals a manufacturer's need for explosion protection prior to line startup.
Du Pont's imaging systems plant in Towanda, Pa., manufactures a variety of products, including photoresists used in the manufacture of printed circuit boards. One of the plant's photoresist processing lines uses many ingredients and a proprietary process. One ingredient is a powder ranging in size from 200 to 400 microns. The powder's explosibility parameters include a minimum ignition energy [MIE] of about 400 to 500 millijoules and a minimum oxygen concentration [MOC] for combustion of about 8.5 percent.
