Lifting system replaces manual labor at a cannery, halves labor costs, and reduces worker stress and fatigue.

Pillsbury's cannery in Hoopston, Ill., processes and cans a wide variety of dry beans, such as kidney, pinto, black-eyed, navy, and lima. Several trucks a day each deliver about 450 100-pound bags of beans, which workers unload and palletize. The beans are then processed and canned.
