Mixer’s liquid spray system is spot on when coating granular products
An agricultural products company installs a rotary batch mixer with a spray system to make inoculant-coated granular products.
With headquarters in Bagsvaerd, Denmark, Novozymes Biologicals Limited’s BioAg Group operates a facility in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, that produces a range of liquid, powder, and granular agricultural products for improving crop yields. Two of the company's widely used granular products consist of a peat carrier coated with the agricultural inoculants Penicillium bilaii fungus or Rhizobia bacteria, which are living microorganisms that live on plant roots and boost growth and yield by helping the plants obtain key nutrients. Initially, the company only required small volumes of the granular products, so it contracted a nearby company with a rotary batch mixer and spray system to make them. But after several years, Novozymes decided to bring the operation in-house to reduce costs and improve quality control, and it needed to find the necessary equipment to do so.
