Controlling conveyor belt carryback with a multiple-cleaner belt-cleaning system

Is conveyor belt carryback making a mess of your bulk solids handling operation, endangering your workers, or damaging your belt? If so, you know carryback can be a costly problem. This article discusses how a multiple-cleaner belt-cleaning system can be used to control carryback and its effects. Sections discuss how a belt-cleaning system works, maintaining proper blade-to-belt contact, preventing belt damage, preventing buildup on belt cleaners and the dribble chute, and maintaining the belt-cleaning system.

Carryback is fugitive material that sticks to a conveyor belt past the belt's unloading point, then falls off on the return run. The spilled carryback can accumulate on idlers, pulleys, and other conveyor components and on the ground or floor beneath the conveyor.
