FIBC performance standards
The flexible intermediate bulk container is a cost-effective and popular method of shipping and storing dry bulk products. To protect your company and customers, every FIBC you use should meet or exceed the voluntary performance standards published by The Chemical Packaging Committee of The packaging Institute USA, in conjunction with the Flexible Intermediate Bulk Container Association USA and the Materials Transportation Bureau of the US Department of Transportation. The standards listed here are minimum criteria; you may desire additional testing of your bags based on the specific needs of your product or operation.
The performance standards highlighted here are used to test a flexible intermediate bulk container loaded to its design capacity. The tests include dropping a full FIBC onto the floor from a specific height; grabbing the bag's lifting strap as it falls; toppling the bag to the floor; dragging the bag across the floor; and picking up the bag from a horizontal position using only one strap. The drop height changes depending on whether the bag is filled with hazardous or nonhazardous material.
