An automatic online bulk density monitor makes Royal Canin's quality control process more efficient and accurate.
Beautiful brown dog kibble is pushing out of an extruder and being conveyed into a dryer. During startup an operator rushes up every 5 minutes, fills a sampling cup with the falling kibble, runs to a scale, notes the weight, and races back to make adjustments to the extruder. That was the scene at the Royal Canin USA plant in Rolla, Mo., before the company installed an automatic on-line bulk density monitor.
