Laminex, located in Gympie, Queensland, is one of Australia's largest manufacturers of medium-density fiberboard [MDF]. The company makes MDF by shredding wood and mixing it with liquid adhesive. It then compresses the mixture into sheets 3.75 to 32 millimeters thick and dries them. In the final step, saws cut the sheets to size, and the sheets are shipped to customers in the building industry.
