Automated packaging system cures reagent producer's ills

Fully integrated powder packaging system sensitively, accurately packages powdered reagent at a Miles Diagnostic plant.

The Miles plant in Elkhart, Ind., makes a reagent powder used in blood tests. The Seralyzer digoxin assay powder is one of two reagents used for in-office tests that determine the amount of a drug in a 1-milliliter blood sample. The powder consists of a light coating of reagent powder molecularly attached to a fine resin powder.
