Sieving equipment pays for itself with higher efficiency
Larvik Pigment of Larvik, Norway, produces pigments for the paint and speciality chemicals industries. One of its products, a fine zinc dust, is used in paints to enhance paint performance and gloss.
To manufacturer the high-value zinc dust, the company melts scrap zinc and condenses the zinc vapor that is emitted. Next, the zinc passes through air classifiers to separate the feedstock by particle size. The acceptable zinc particles are saved, while the rejected, oversized particles - called tailings - are stockpiled.
