Automated particle size analyzer does all the work
A fertilizer producer installs an automated particle size analyzer to improve sample testing efficiency and accuracy.
The Mosaic Co., headquartered in Minneapolis, operates a plant in St. James, La., that produces diammonium phosphate and monoammonium phosphate fertilizers for agricultural use. To ensure that the fertilizers meet quality control specifications, operators regularly analyze samples for particle size, moisture content, and chemical content. In the past, the company used three sieve shakers and manual calculations to determine the particle size range of numerous fertilizer samples. Because this process was time-consuming, labor-intensive, and susceptible to operator error, the company decided to automate the particle size analysis operation.
