Bin aerators rescue hydrated lime injection system from repeated beatings
When pounding the equipment, changing the feeders, and installing bin vibrators and air cannons couldn't cause hydrated lime to flow from the day bins at a brewery's waste treatment plant, the plant installed bin aerators.
A brewery in central Virginia daily generates about 500,000 gallons of waste water that flows by gravity to the brewery's nearby waste treatment plant. Equalization basins at the waste treatment plant mix and store the waste water before pumps transport it to aeration basins. From there, the waste water flows by gravity to open-top clarifiers where gravity and coagulants cause the sludge in the waste water to collect at the clarifiers' bottoms.
