Quarry gets rock-solid results from slider bed
Impact slider bed reduces downtime and maintenance costs at a conveyor belt loading station.
The J.F. Allen Company operates a limestone quarry in Elkins, W Va. Large chunks of limestone are blasted from a hillside at the quarry and loaded into trucks. The trucks then dump the limestone chunks into a hopper that discharges into a heavy-duty jaw-type crusher. The crushed limestone is discharged onto a conveyor and carried to a storage hopper. Some of the limestone is used at J.F. Allen's concrete and asphalt production facilities; the rest is sold as ballast for roads, railbeds, and other applications.
