Rohstoffgesellschaft Ponholz GmbH processes chamotte, also known as grog, at a plant in Maxhütte-Haidhof, Germany. Rich in Al2 O3 , chamotte is a clay prized for its heat-resistance. Customers use it to make a range of refractory materials and ceramic products. Ponholz employs 50 workers and produces about 55,000 metric tons of chamotte powder and granules a year.
