Hood stretch system protects pallet loads from elements
A company installs an automatic hood stretch system in its end-of-line packaging operation to improve its shipping operation's efficiency, economics, and outdoor storage capabilities.
Package Pavement, Stormville, N. Y., manufactures and packages various cement mixes, blacktop patch, and related products and distributes them to private contractors, construction sites, home centers, lumberyards, and other businesses in the New York state area. During peak production times, the company's shipping operation was proving to be inefficient and uneconomical. The spiral stretch wrapping process used in the end-of-line packaging operation to secure pallet loads for storage and transport wasn't protecting the pallet loads from the elements, requiring the spiral stretch wrapping machine to wrap each pallet with an extra layer of film or workers to cover each pallet with a tarp. To improve its shipping operation, the company installed a hood stretch system in its end-of-line packaging operation.
