Infrared moisture measurement
The consistent, accurate measurement of moisture content is one of the key elements of process control for a wide cross section of the processing industry. The benefits of moisture measurement include reduced energy costs, closer adherence to legislative requirements, increased product yield, and improved product quality.
The moisture content of most solids has been commonly determined by regular collection of samples and subsequent laboratory analysis. However, two fundamental problems make methods based on sample collection and laboratory analysis unsuitable for effective process control 1] There is often a lengthy time delay between sampling and obtaining information upon which to base control, and 2] these methods treat a single small sample of a few ounces as representing the output of a plant that processes several tons of material per hour.
