Electronic valve-bag packers deliver solid performance bagging concrete products

A company installs three new valve-bag packers to improve its concrete products bagging operation.

Bonsal American Inc., headquartered in Charlotte, N.C., operates a plant in Canaan, Conn., that bags and distributes numerous dry-mix concrete products. The plant combines various amounts of cement, sand, and gravel to make a couple of hundred products, including concrete mixes, mortar mixes, sand mixes, and others. The products are packaged in 40- to 80-pound-capacity paper valve bags and are distributed to local retail outlets such as Home Depot, Menards, and Lowe’s. To improve the plant’s bagging operation, Mark Lowry, senior project engineer at the Canaan plant, replaced three old manual valve-bag packers with new electronic packers.
